Henri Theron
Henri grew up in an Afrikaans home and was educated in the language. Henri qualified as a psychologist in 1976 and spent a large part of his career as a student counselor at universities and colleges. In 1995 he opened a private practice, but still he searched for deeper meaning.
That search led him to A Course in Miracles after a colleague introduced him to a study group. Deeply moved by the teachings, in 1998 he began to translate parts of the Course into Afrikaans to make it accessible to future students.
In 2000 he attended a workshop on forgiveness taught by Dr. Kenneth Wapnick in Roscoe, New York, and began discussions about translating the entire Course. Despite not being a professional translator and facing linguistic challenges - including the creation of new terminology such as "mind" - the translation progressed steadily.
Support came through collaboration with Dutch translator Willem Glaudemans, whose Dutch edition provided clarity and assistance due to the close relationship between Afrikaans and Dutch. Linguistic refinement was later provided by Emeritus Professor Flip Strydom.
Although publishers initially refused due to the small market, the Foundation for Inner Peace sponsored the Afrikaans edition in electronic form and made it available in September 2006.
Henri continues to teach and facilitate small groups while translating additional miracle material. Of his journey, he reflects that translating the Course was one of the most healing paths imaginable.
“Teach only love, for that is what you are.”
